Agency Workers Regulations - Are you ready?
In October 2010 the UK government announced it would be going ahead with the Agency Workers Regulations 2010 introduced by the Labour government. The regulations implement the European directive 2008/104/EC on temporary agency work and were shaped by an agreement forged between UK employers and unions in May 2008.
There has been a lot of discussion on the impact of these regulations. In this section of the Abacus website we aim to concisely and clearly illustrate to organisations that use temporary staff what the implications of the legislation will mean.
Abacus Professional Recruitment have been closely monitoring the commentary and advice from a number of key stakeholder groups on this subject including; Department of Employment and Learning, Recruitment and Employment Confederation, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, in this area which will be updated regularly we aim to bring together the shared wisdom.
The Regulations will come into force in England, Scotland and Wales on 1 October 2011. The Agency Workers (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2011 will come into effect on 1 December 2011.
