GTRunwayRun

The clock struck 11pm and within a blink of an eye a mass of local businesses came together to compete in Northern Ireland’s first running event of its kind.

Late yesterday evening over 125 teams, which included 500 runners participating a 5K race route at George Best Belfast City Airport.  The race was open to local NI businesses to take on the challenge.

Abacus Professional Recruitment could not resist the opportunity to attend the airstrip challenge.  Twelve members of the Abacus team came together to descend the local airport runway.  At a glance the runway may not seem that long… its total length is 1,829m which enabled participants to take on laps of the track as well as the adjoining taxi-ways.  Our very own Mark Bonar, Data Analytics Recruitment Consultant and Stuart John, Legal Recruitment Consultant were snapped running on the track!

Many congratulations to all those who participated.  The GTRunwayRun was a fantastically structured event and from the Abacus team we would like to thank Grant Thornton and Athletics NI who accurately organised and measured the 5K course.

The race, which ended shortly before midnight, supported the airport’s award winning community fund charity which was the perfect venue and will always be a memorable event!
