IPF Fundraising
The Abacus Talent Group has donated to help the Caughey family to raise funds for IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis) research.
IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis) is a progressive terminal illness with no known cure.
In people with IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis), the tiny air sacs in the lungs (alveoli) become damaged and increasing scarred. This causes the lungs to become stiff and makes it difficult for oxygen to get into the blood.
The reason this happens isn’t clear. Approximately 32,500 people across the UK have IPF and approximately 7,800 are diagnosed with it each year. Northern Ireland has the highest prevalence of IPF. Yet, there is very little understanding or awareness of the illness. More research into causes, treatment and a cure are urgently needed to improve the quality of life of IPF patients.
IPF fund in memory of Paul Caughey has been set up to raise funds to enable 100 days of life-changing research. The aim is to raise £11,800 on behalf of the British lung foundation.
