Intro

Abacus Temporary staffing are delighted to be retained by our client, a Northern Ireland leading not for profit organisation seeks to appoint a Rick and Compliance officer to join their team within their head office in Belfast City centre. You will be presented with the opportunity to work for a leading local organisation that has been established in Northern Ireland for over 40 years and has helped over 25,000 people in our local community

Why This Role

As the risk and compliance officer you will report directly to the Head if Governance and have direct responsibility for ensuring legal compliance and regulation within the organisation is maintained to keep in line with our client’s growth polices, whilst also ensuring internal polices and implemented and adhered too.

You will have the responsibility of overseeing our clients risk management framework and have the foresight to understand where the risks are and ensure appropriate controls and procedures are put in place to minimise these.

The Role

The ideal candid will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience working within a regulated and controlled industry undertaking a compliance and risk role. You will be responsible for the building and securing of relationships, undertake a business partner approach to implementing risk and compliance procedures within the business and have the focus and passion to demonstrate to all employees the value of these procedures.

You will also be responsible for the following duties:

  • Devise an appropriate compliance monitoring plan
  • Conducting compliance reviews and reporting on these findings to senior management and Audit and Risk committee
  • Ability to work on multiple business critical projects
  • Identify new legislative requirements
  • Generate monthly compliance reports and update compliance polices and monitoring plans as required

Qualifications

  • Third level qualification in a Business/ Finance or compliance related discipline
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working within a compliance an risk role in a regulated industry such as finance services, local government etc
  • Experience in undertaking the following duties:
    • Compliance Logs
    • Risk Assessments
    • Improvement and action plans
  • Experience in delivering projects within given timeframes and within budget
  • Experience in undertaking quality assurance checks and delivering against a compliance monitoring plan

Desirable:

  • Recognised Risk or compliance qualification
  • Previous experience working in a public sector risk and compliance role
