Planned or Structured Interviews

Planned or Structured Interviews:
This style of interview is one of the most common styles across most companies. The same questions are asked to each candidate to give a fair assessment across the board.
With planned or structured interviews the questions asked are used to test various skills of the candidate such as teamwork, communications skills, interpersonal skills, analytical skills etc. The candidate is scored based on their answers and the candidate who gains the highest score is the preferred candidate for the job.
Examples of questions that could be asked could include:
- Tell me about a time you failed at a project. How did you try to avoid failure? What did that experience teach you?
- Tell me about a time you had to deliver bad news to a manager or team member. How did you do it? What was the other person’s reaction?
- Imagine you’re assigned an important task but your team members keep interrupting you with questions. How do you manage?
Key Features
The main features of this interview are that it is easier for the interviewer and the candidate. The structured interview provides a structured process that gives a natural flow to the interview as the questions are set. This allows the candidate to practice and prepare for the interview.
